Membership

Join us on the mission.

We're excited that you are interested in taking the step of church membership here at Beacon! Membership reflects what the church is-a body of believers, working together in unity toward one mission.

Here at Beacon, we like to make sure everyone enters church membership with a full understanding of our church, who we are, and what we believe. At the same time, we want to know about you. Because of this, we regularly hold Prospective Members' Classes to help us spend time getting to know each other.

Below, you can find our MEMBERSHIP FAQ and information about our next class, and sign up to participate.

MEMBERSHIP FAQ

What is church membership?
Church membership is a way of saying, “This is my church family, and I’m committed here.” It’s more than just attending services—it’s publicly identifying with a local church, agreeing to live out your faith alongside other believers, and being part of both the care and mission of the church.
What are the benefits of membership?
Membership means you have a spiritual family committed to helping you grow, walking with you through hard times, and celebrating life’s joys. It also gives you a place to use your gifts, make a difference, and join together in a mission that matters.

Beyond that, membership brings a deeper level of connection and responsibility. You have a voice in key decisions that guide the direction of the church, opportunities to give and serve in greater ways that require commitment, and the joy of being part of a family working side by side to carry out God’s mission. Membership is not just about what we receive, but about what we commit to together.
What is the difference between membership and just attending?
Attending is like visiting a family meal, you’re welcome and included. Membership is like officially taking a seat at the table. You’re counted on, you have a voice, and the church family commits to the mission together.
Why do you have to take a class to be a member?
The class isn’t about passing a test—it’s about helping you understand what our church believes, how we live that out, and what it means to be part of this community. It makes sure we’re all on the same page, and it gives you space to ask questions before making the commitment.

Additionally, membership helps safeguard the church’s unity and beliefs. By walking through the process together, we make sure that everyone understands what our church teaches, agrees on the basics of faith, and is ready to work toward the same mission. This prevents confusion, protects the church from division, and helps us stay healthy and focused on what matters most.
